A Noun is a name of person place or thing.

For example :- Mohit is at home with his best friend 

Mohit is noun in above sentence because Mohit is the name of the person .

     1.   Common Noun

    2.   Proper noun

    3.   Material noun

    4.   Collective noun

    5.   Abstract noun

Let’s explain one by one:-

Common Noun:- A noun is common to all ,places or things of the same class or kind is called a common noun.

For e.g 1.  A  sita is running

For e.g 2.  A dog is jumping

For e.g 3. A house is to live in

Sita, dog, house are the name of common persons,animals , place or thing so they are therefore common nouns.

2. Proper noun:-The name of the particular person, place or a thing  is called a proper noun.

 For e.g Delhi, Books football etc

3. Material Noun :- All those nouns which are used to refers to metals and materials, are called material Nouns For e.g The ring is made of Gold .So in this sentence the Gold Is material Noun .

 

4. Collective Noun :- A noun that express the name of more than one persons or things reckoned as one group is called Collective noun For e.g A flock of sheep is grazing , A flight of steps leads to the roof  In these two line on is Flock and second is Flight is Collective Noun.

5. Abstract Noun :- The name of a quality , state or action of mindof the person  or a stage of life or a thing is called an Abstract noun . For e.g

1. Kindness is a great virtue.

2. Honesty is the best policy.

In these above two lines there are two Abstract noun One is Kindness and second is Honesty.

Nouns are also classified into two types depending on wheather they can be countable or not .

1.Countable Noun :- Countable noun are those noun which can be count  For e.g One Boy , Two Boy etc

2.Uncountable Noun:-Uncountable nouns are those noun which cannot be able to count For e.g Gold,water,Steel, oil etc
